Save-the-dates

Save-the-dates are the first "official" wedding announcement to your family and friends. Hand-down, this is my favorite part of the invitation suite! Even if you are leaning towards a formal invitation, your save-the-date doesn't have to be so formal.  Although it is an informative announcement, it can be simple or ornate, cutesy or fun and can be completely out-of-the-box, that's the fun of it! Recently it has become a bit more popular to forgo sending out these beautiful little announcements to save money or to keep it "green," keep in mind that you are going to want to give your guests adequate notice of your wedding date. Guests need time to save up and/or request the time off of work, especially if you are planning a destination wedding or if it is during a holiday weekend. You would want to same courtesy, wouldn't you?

What to include:

  • This pre-invitation announcement doesn't have to be too wordy, so you have the freedom to include more design elements or photos.

  • Couples' names

  • Wedding date

  • Wedding location

  • Wedding website

When to send:

  • Generally, these are sent 6 months prior to your wedding. For a destination wedding, it is appropriate to send these 6-8 months prior.
