Interactive Wedding Entertainment Ideas!

As you may already know, we are all about creating wedding experiences! A question that we get asked a lot nowadays is "how do I entertain my wedding guests during the reception?" Let's be real, dinner, drinking, and dancing is fun and all, but a wedding is a special day with all your closest friends and family gathered, so why not make it THE most memorable event ever? There are tons of creative (non-cheesy) ideas that you can customize for your guests to enjoy, but here are a few of our current favorites to get you inspired!

Build-Your-Own Dessert Bar

People love their sweets, so why not make it even more fun? Turning your desserts bar into a "build-your-own" is another step into making your wedding more interactive. Some popular ones are cookie decorating stations, ice cream sandwich bars, and s'mores bars. Just pick your favorite dessert and run with it!

Late Night Snacks

Even though dinner was just a couple hours ago, after dancing, more drinking, and more dancing… guests get hungry! A fun thing to treat your guests (and yourself) to are some late night snacks! You can either arrange a small menu with your caterer, order an additional food truck to come late (In-N-Out does this FYI), or even just get some regular pizzas delivered (like we did at a wedding this past Fall!). We've had couples do it all and trust us when we say the crowd loves a good late night munchie!

Drink Tastings

Whether it’s a wine tasting, beer pairing, tequila tasting, or literally anything else boozy, this type of interactive experience is a ton of fun and even educational! We had a previous event where our client hired a wine sommelier to do a guided tasting (pictured above) and seriously guys, this was the perfect addition to their summer party! Your guests not only get to try and enjoy new wines but hopefully learn a new thing or two about wine and food pairings. Not a wine person? Try doing beer flights!

Live Art/Caricature Artists

Caricature artists are always a fun fan favorite. Our girl, Dianuh, is the insanely talented Owner + Artist behind Chasing Linen. She offers a service called "live art" where guests can get a one-of-a-kind hand painted portrait. Not only is it interactive but now your guests will have something they can keep with them forever, a modern favor of sorts. We have also worked with caricature artists and painters who paint scenes from your wedding day while it’s still going on!

Live Entertainers + Performances

Why not surprise your guests with an extra show? Live entertainers are great at getting the audience excited to party. We've had burlesque dancers at a 1920’s Gatsby themed wedding and even a past groom who got his old college marching band back together for a once-in-a-lifetime performance. And yes…the groom did join in!

Personalized Party Games

Games are always a fun way to keep guests entertained. Cornhole and giant Jenga are cool, but to make your wedding even more special try creating a game that is customized to who you are as a couple. An example is one of our couples who created a crossword for their brunch wedding because brunch, coffee, and crosswords are literally the cutest ode to their Sunday mornings together.. It was a sweet and sentimental thing their close friends and family enjoyed and appreciated!

Party Piñata

Something for both the adults and the little ones to enjoy. No matter how old you get, it will always be hilarious and satisfying to hit a piñata and watch all the candy fall out!

Temporary Tattoos/Henna Station

Interactive stations that can be set up during cocktail hour and throughout the reception are our favorite! Your guests can let loose a little through a cute + fun temporary tattoo or henna station. This gives guests the chance to be creative and silly for the night without having to commit to anything permanent (like marriage LOL).

A New Take On The Photo Booth

Photography by Brett Hickman Photographers

Spice up your traditional photo booth by adding some hilarious and not-your-average props! Also, photo booth film strips are always going to be a classic, but some fun new options are vendors that can create GIFs or flipbooks from their photo booths. Guests can be goofy and get something different than the traditional photo. Check out Flipbooth LA for some more details!

Mini Petting Zoos

For all you animal lovers out there, a mini petting zoo is an adorable and definitely memorable addition to your wedding festivities. Ok yeah, the giant python might be a little intense and was handled by a trainer at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, but there are tons of other options like little bunnies, chickens, and even goats! We even saw a wedding on Instagram that had alpacas!

Bounce Houses

No, this is not a joke and yes, we are here for it! Bounce Houses are here for the young, the old, and the newly married. Just keep an eye out for your extra tipsy friends…

We hope this blog gets your creative juices flowing to think of some fun, unique, and interactive entertainment ideas to incorporate into your wedding or event!
